Daily Espresso Machine Cleaning Procedure

This procedure should be preformed each night at closing when breaking down your espresso machine.

Daily cleaning will drastically prolong the life of your machine!

Tools needed

-Purocaf

-Pallo (grouphead) Brush

-Stubby Screwdriver

1. Purge GroupHead

Purge your grouphead by switching the water on and off quickly. This removes build up of coffee grounds.

2. add a dime size amount of purocaff to your blank

3. Insert blank portafiler into grouphead

-Pulse grouphead on and off in 10 second intervals

-Repeat pulsing process 5 times

-On the fifth pulse, break the seal of the portafilter to allow your purocaff water to flow over the grouphead gasket

4. Remove Screw, Screen, & Basket

-Remove the screw and screen from the grouphead

-Place screw in a safe place! We recommend in a shot glass on top of your machine. Do not forget!

-Remove regular basket from portafilter that has been in use

5. Soak

-Place the screen and basket in a container, fill with hot water and a dime size amount of purocaff

-Let soak while you proceed to next step

6. Cleaning your gasket

Use your Pallo brush to clean all around your gasket. Use the water from the grouphead to clean your brush.

7. Reassemble

-Remove screen and basket that has been soaking and rinse well

-Place screw into your screen and insert back in your grouphead

-Tighten screw down by hand, then turn the screw an additional 1/8 - 1/4 turn. Be careful to not over-tighten! Screen should be snug so it wont spin, but not so tight that it deforms the screen.

-Wipe down the rest of the espresso machine and bar area with a clean damp towel

8.Final rinse

-Using a clean, blank portafilter basket, (no purocaff this time!) pulse your grouphead on and off in 10 second intervals

-Repeat this process 5 times

-Your screen, screw, and gasket should all be clear of coffee groups and build up now, and flushed of purocaff

Steam Wand Best Practice

It’s very important BEFORE and AFTER each use to purge your steam wand!

Before you steam, PURGE!

Water builds up in the wand when not in use. If you do not purge this water out before steaming milk, it’ll make it into the milk…gross!

After steaming, wipe your steam wand with a clean damp bar towel. This towel should be designated to use on the wand only.

PURGE AGAIN! To expell any leftover milk inside the wand.

Need help remembering?

PSWP: PURGE, STEAM, WIPE, PURGE!
